The entrance to the apartment is not on the street side. To reach the apartment you need to get into the inner court of the building. Access is not restricted. The inner court of the building has some free parking possibilities. Once in the inner court you can access the building front door with a digital code. There is no lift to the apartment on the third and last floor. The apartment itself is in need of renovation. Upon entering, on your left you have a separate toilet (1 m2). The apartment is located in the "Aristocratic Lipki". The area on the hill to the southeast of today's Kreshchatik was known in ancient times as Klov - after the Klovskiy stream that flows by it (the name of the stream is perhaps due to its bubbling water). The chronicles mention a monastery on Klov , the remains of which were discovered by archeologists on the territory of the school at 25, shelkovichnaya St. Time passed, and this part of the town became known as Lipki after a pleasant linden alley (lipa - linden) that ran through it. In the 1830s, the Governor General V. Levashov ordered most of the lindens to be cut down, but the name was preserved. The Tsarina Elizabeth I chose this place to build a residence for traveling dignitaries. The presence of the tsarina's palace turned Lipki into an aristocratic district. This was where the highest gubernatorial officials and wealthy local people had their residences. Under the Soviets, the principal state institutions of Ukraine were situated in Lipki. The neighborhood is virtually unmarred by ugly modern skyscrapers. Its shady streets are adjoined by parks and public gardens. Today it is perhaps the most prestigious area in Kyiv - comfortable, pleasant and well looked after. |
